Download Apache HTTP Server
Skip this step if a OS package repository is being used.
Download Apache HTTP Server from http://httpd.apache.org/download.cgi.
Download and installation note
On most Operation systems the Apache HTTP Server package can be installed from a package repository. For example the '/usr/ports/' repository for FreeBSD and the 'apt-get' package system for Ubuntu and Debian Linux distributions. This will download AND install Apache HTTP Server on the default location depending on your OS with default modules and configuration.
Operation system package usage
Always use the operation system package repository instead of downloading and compiling from source if there is an package repository available.
Install the Apache HTTP Server
- After downoading the source install the Apache HTTP Server from source http://httpd.apache.org/docs/2.0/install.html
- FreeBSD
cd /usr/ports/www/apacke/ make install clean
- Ubuntu, Debian
apt-get update apt-get install apache
- Microsoft Windows http://httpd.apache.org/docs/2.0/platform/windows.html
